As Agroecology Program Coodrinator, Omar is responsible for planning and carrying out research and capacity-building activities in MBLA’s various intervention sites. Over the years, Omar has been able to turn his passion for working with local farmers into a robust Farmer Field School programme which has benefited dozens of small producers in the High Atlas region. Omar’s previous work experience in the fields of waste treatment, biodiversity/environmental conservation, permaculture and work safety continue to allow MBLA to develop innovative grant proposals and community-based interventions. Omar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Water and Environment Engineering, a Master’s degree in Water and Environment and a PhD in Biotechnology and Environmental Sciences from Cadi Ayyad University’s Faculty of Science of Semlalia in Marrakech, Morocco.
